English Requirements

International Students must provide proof of English proficiency, submitted directly from the testing center to the University of Arizona. More information can be found on our FAQ page. For questions, please email international@arizona.edu.

Conditional Admission

When a student earns conditional admission, they will be asked to provide the required proof of English proficiency to enroll in coursework at the University of Arizona. All conditionally-admitted students have until the application deadline for the term of admission to submit proof of proficiency via test score.

Students may also choose to attend the University of Arizona’s Center for English as a Second Language (CESL) U-Track Pathway to complete their English proficiency requirement. This program is a bridge to admission that features content-based curriculum specifically for conditionally-admitted students at the University of Arizona. New Undergraduate U-Track applicants must take the CEPT Full Academic Test. Depending on the student's score, additional ESL classes may be required. With CESL's English Language Endorsement, students in the U-Track Pathway can fulfill UA's minimum English language proficiency requirement without taking an additional TOEFL or IELTS exam.

Encourage your students to complete their application as soon as possible, to join the 5,400+ international students from around the world who choose the University of Arizona every year.
